Panopticon Competition Wildcard site

Crown Point, Burnley

An ideas competition to encourage people to become aware of the landscape here and encourage walkers, ramblers and so on. 

My approach was to design a series of experiences made largely with found local materials and which could afford some shelter and either limit, focus or enhance ones perception of a particular aspect of the site and location.  Hence we have: The Peculiar Object, the Mound, the Fold and the Shelter.  The structures would reinforce orientation through conscious references to the cardinal points and to the approach to and from the sites.  There would also be an aspect about them of discovery, so that one would question whether these are new or ancient, and exploration, how do they work, can I sit here, or can I see the sky from there…
